The University of Mary Washington, originally State Normal and Industrial School for Woman at Fredericksburg, is a public, coeducational university in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Its name is in honor of Mary Ball Washington, the mother of the former and the first US President George Washington. Additionally, the University of Mary Washington is a member of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. It is also part of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Currently, the university is serving around 4,400 undergraduate students and around 500 postgraduate students. The university’s student to faculty ratio is 14:1.
